Pew Research Study Provides Mixed Hope For Newspapers

Community newspapers are not dead yet but television is slipping. That's one way to interpret a new study released by the Pew Research Center on American news consumption. According to the New York Times today, the study found that news consumers tend to favor television for breaking news such as information about the weather, but also look to community newspapers and websites for information about their local government and crime reports. While television is still considered the overall dominant news medium, the margin is slim especially as younger consumers look to television less for information than older consumers.
